Biomimicry Institute Seeks Nature-Inspired Communicator

Calling on experienced writers and social media influencers who are passionate about climate action and regenerating Earth’s natural ecosystems to join the team.

MISSOULA, MT — December 16, 2020 — The Biomimicry Institute is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic communicator to join its remote team. Nature thrives on biodiversity, and the Institute is modeling this universal pattern to encourage a diverse range of applicants to apply. The Communications Manager will support day-to-day operations in the communications department and help the Institute promote its programs, values, and mission.

The ideal candidate for this role will have excellent written and verbal communication skills; have experience working in public relations; be knowledgeable in creating engaging social media campaigns; and most importantly, have a unique perspective to offer the community.

“We are a social species that has always relied on the power of storytelling. Stories inform us, entertain us, and connect us,” explains Lex Amore, Communications Director at the Biomimicry Institute. “We are looking for someone with a unique story and background that can authentically bring the potential of biomimicry and regenerative design to a broader audience. Communities in nature are more robust and resilient when they are biodiverse. We must embody that same principle to grow our community and support the greater good.”

The role is a virtual position within the United States; and while applicants from California, Oregon, or Washington are preferred, we will consider candidates from beyond these three states. This will be a 6-month temporary position with the possibility of permanent hire dependent upon the organization’s needs and candidate’s performance of job duties. If you are a self-starter who is passionate, creative, motivated, well-organized, and ready to use your voice for good, you may be the perfect candidate for this role.

To be considered, please submit a resume and cover letter, along with the following items on this form by January 11:

  • Three writing samples (one press release and two feature articles or blog posts)
  • Three samples of social media posts, including graphics if relevant, for Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn, as well as details on how they performed
  • One paragraph on why you’re passionate about biomimicry, a regenerative economy, and/or climate action
