Ask the Planet
Award-winning children’s music
Ask the Planet is the Biomimicry Institute’s award-winning album of children’s music, created to help connect children to nature and develop a sense of awe for the environment.
Every song is joyously performed by The Missoula Coyote Choir and Friends with guest artists including folk greats: Ani DiFranco, Bruce Cockburn, Brandi Carlile, Dar Williams, Erin McKeown, Laura Love, Bill Harley, and Bill Sims, Jr. All songs written by Amy Martin.
Ask the Planet is such a beautiful, beautiful thing. Amy Martin’s song writing and her direction of the children’s choir, and children soloists… so moving and inspiring! My favorite album of the year.”
~ Neil Harvey, host and senior producer, Bioneers Radio Show
Why Children’s Music?
Parents and educators have long called for more creative and palatable approaches to raising awareness about environmental problems. Today’s children need positive solutions and realistic tools, such as biomimicry, to address the environmental challenges that they will grow up with, and this album will help to inspire and motivate them to make a difference. The album can be used as an educational tool in both formal and non-formal educational settings. Accompanying teaching guides are available for each song.
These teaching guides were created for children in elementary school and include connections to language arts and social studies. Spanish translations are provided for three of the songs.
