Join us at the Oregon Zoo! This hands-on workshop for 6-12th grade educators will focus on using biomimicry as a framework to teach standards-aligned content while empowering our next generation of problem-solvers to think differently about nature, engineering, and a sustainable future. The day will begin with an interactive introduction to the topic of biomimicry, including both indoor and outdoor activities. Participants will then experience the biomimicry design process first hand as they work in small groups on a design challenge. Activities and resources from the Biomimicry Institute’s Youth Design Challenge (YDC) will be featured and participants will leave with effective strategies for sharing biomimicry with students and connecting nature with technology, engineering, and design.
Pre-Registration is Required. This workshop is offered as an add-on learning opportunity at the 2020 Green Schools Conference and Expo in Portland, OR, March 2-4. It is open to all, regardless of conference attendance. Register through the main conference registration portal and select the events you wish to attend when you get to the programming part of the form.
