Continuing on the theme of compressing large timescales into shorter, more comprehensible units, here’s a nice 2-minute animated video by AsapSCIENCE.  It illustrates life’s evolution as if it happened in a single 24 hour day and does a great job of demonstrating how rapidly the pace of evolution picked up “in an explosion of inventiveness” in the latter “hours” of that “day.
