Program Technical Director Dave Hutchins will be hosting a session on “Nature’s Blueprint for Climate Solutions” at the Cal Poly Initiative for Climate Leadership and Resilience Climate Solutions Now Virtual Conference.
Nature offers a blueprint for resilience, efficiency, and sustainability—the essential qualities for addressing the climate crisis. Biomimicry, the practice of drawing inspiration from natural systems and organisms, has the potential to inform and measure how we design climate solutions. From wind turbine blades that are made more efficient by emulating owls to environmentally friendly glitter inspired by iridescent berries, nature provides innovative strategies for reducing emissions, enhancing renewable energy systems, and adapting to climate impacts. This talk explores how leveraging biomimicry across all sectors can be a powerful tool to help create scalable and sustainable solutions.
